I am using Powerpoint 2003, and I created a new template based off of the
Clouds template that comes with PowerPoint. I had some custom text boxes that
I added to the template. I will call this MyClouds.pot for reference
I then wanted create another template based off MyClouds.pot where I would
supply my own background jpg image. Call this MyJpg.pot
I then created a presentation based on MyClouds. I then changed the template
to MyJpg
The background image in MyJpg was displayed, but the color was off because
of the color scheme background color that was part of the initial Clouds.pot
template.
What I would like to do is to have no background color applied, so that my
background jpg image would display correctly.

How do I fix this problem? Thanks for your help

Unfortunately you picked one of a few of the Microsoft templates that is set up
with a single background image that adapts to the chosen background color. If I
ever knew how they did this and how to change it, I've forgotten by now. I
think that my recommendation would be to use a different template as the
starting point for your MyJpg.pot. For example, pick the blank.pot, add your
background image and then make all of the other adjustments to fonts, color
scheme, etc., that you want to match MyClouds.pot. It's a pain in the neck, but
I can't think of another approach.

By the way, thanks for such a clear and complete question.

Yeah... I've known for a long time that powerpoint can re-color certain of
Microsofts templates.... but not what "triggers" certain templates to follow
the color scheme.
