Hi, I'm having a problem with my windows XP which is
Every time I sign in under my own username, my "connect to" option disappears and I can't open any folders. Furthermore, whenever I try to go into the programs menu, the computer completely freezes. If I log off before this happens, however, the task manager comes up saying "p2pnet008 program not responding". When I choose end now, all the folders I clicked on beforehand appear, and then it logs off.
I have deduced from this that it is "p2pnet008" that is causing the problem, but on the rare occasion when I've managed to get into my own username, I searched for it and this program isn't present on my PC. I've tried searching from another username (all the other usernames work fine), and they can't find it either, but since they still work it must only be present under my username
This is vitally important, because I have files under my username that I have to access. I also also tried searching my documents and settings from another username, but it says access is denied to my documents and settings
Please help me, I'm going crazy without these files
Thanks a lot
Sean

You need to take ownership of these files.
To take ownership of them, right-click the folder, select properties.
Go to the security tab and click advanced. You can take control of the
folders on the owner tab. In Windows XP Pro, you must disable simple
file sharing in control panel > folder options > view tab.
In Windows XP Home, you must start in safe mode and logon as
administrator.
