My laptop was recently upgraded from 2000 professional to XP professional and
I can no longer use the projector (it worked fine using 2000).
Are there any graphics settings that I might need to change?
Regards & Thanks

Most laptops have a key combination that will switch from internal LCD to
external monitor and a few settings in-between a full switch. Find yours.
fn+F8 maybe?

Also - in order to utilize it properly - you'll need to ensure you have the
latest hardware driver installed for the vidoe system and Windows XP.

The use of a projector with your laptop has nothing to do with what
operating system you're running, or any settings within that operating
system

However there is normally a key combination on the laptop that lets you
select between three states:

1. Laptop screen only
2. External screen (projector) only
3. Both

You may have that set wrong. Check your system documentation.

Hi Guys, thanks but I understand the key functions. As I said it work using
2000 then a week after being XP'd it didn't - the key functions i.e. Fn / F8
does nothing.
Unfortnately my IT Manager has no clue and suggested changing settings in
the graphics card, but without success.

It worked for a week, then stopped? You might try a Restore point dated
before it stopped working, and suspect a Windows update.. Or remove
Windows updates till you find the culprit.

Does nothing with an external monitor either? The keyboard drivers may
need to be reinstalled, or updated for XP(?)

No it didn't work the first time I tried to connect to a projector (I have
tried 3 now) but weirdly I can use an external monitor.

You are write the Function F8 does nothing.

Thanks

I have tried using it exactly the same as before i.e. it is in standby then I
attach it, but the laptop is already on.
Are you suggesting that booting it up after attaching may help the laptop
see the projector?

Yes, the operating system may not be enabling the video port so no "output".
