Hello.
I'm attempting to install XP Pro on a box currently loaded
with Windows ME. This is the error I'm getting:
http://hatelull.shackspace.com/error.jpg
Originally I got the error after running the upgrade off
the CD. I poked around in the MS knowledge base and saw
that it can occur if there's an error reading off the CD-
R. So, I dropped to the command prompt and..
xcopy d:\i386\*.* c:\i386\*.* /s /e
after it copied the 6000 files i ran winnt32.exe from the
c:\i386\ prompt.
Same error.
I seem to run into this error a lot when trying to install
XP on older PC's. This one is an AMD processor with 512MB
of RAM. As far as I know, the CD-ROM drive is functional
since it did an ME install correctly a few weeks ago.
Any ideas?
