Problems sending Distribution Lists in Outlook 2003

I cannot send the distribution lists I have developed for Marketing. I
thought that a maximum number of email addresses may have created this
problem but do not see in outlook where there is a maximum number of email
addresses, so am not sure if that is the problem. There is no error, it
simply sits in the out box trying to send forever, and each time there is a
new send or receive initiated, it will begin at the beginning and send a
bunch until it just stops again, and will continue to send part of the list
until I catch it. Several of my clients receive 105 of the same newsletter
the other day. Anyone have any suggestions?

It's not Outlook. Outlook has no limit that I am aware of. Check with your
ISP. Most residential accounts are limited to 25, 50 or 100. Commercial
broadband accounts may send up to 150. All of these are dependent on the
specific ISP. My Commercial account allows up to 1,000 between 11:00 p.m.
and 5:00 a.m. after I qualified for a Bulk Mail status.

Doesn't sound like your trying to send a distribution list at all. It
sounds like you're trying to send a newsletter _using_ a distribution list.

It sounds like there may be a timout issue with the outgoing server. First,
if you have any antivirus program configured to scan your outgoing mail,
disable it. It's unnecessary and can cause this issue. Second, increase
the server timeout value you can find on the Advanced tab of your account
properties pages.

Thank you for the response. I have increased the server time out value
previously thinking that this was the problem, but it did not help. I do
have a anti-virus software scanning my outgoing mail, and will disconnect
that now to see if that works. I do appreciate the info.

I have requested the restrictions from my server and hopefully that will help
me. If I had known this existed I could have set the distribution lists with
a maximum number, and thank you for that knowledge.
