Problems send email directly from contacts or using autocomplete

When I compose a new message to someone by either of the following: 1. From
the contacts areas clicking on the new message to contact icon or 2. When I
just compose a new message and in the TO field start typing a receipent's
name and it is autocompleted for me. These message are sent, but the person
they are sent to they never receive. I have to either reply to someone who
sent me an email or type in the email address fully in the to field then send
for them to receive. I use Outlook 2003 SP1. Also have Windows XP Pro.
 
Did you check all of your smtp settings for your e-mail account? Did you
test all of these settings? Do the outgoing mails stay in your Outbox or do
they "appear" to be sent?
