Problems opening .ppt file

When i try to open the file abc.ppt i get this error message:

Can not open the type of file abc.ppt.

I have checked the file extension, it is .ppt

Please give a solution
 
Yes the file are moved.

When I double click the file for powerpoint to start I only get the PP
program.
When I then use File > open I got the error message.

- Are you sure it's a PowerPoint file? Putting salt in a container that says
"Sugar" won't make it any sweeter and giving a file a .PPT extension doesn't
make it a PowerPoint file. ;-)

- How did you receive the file? Possibly it's been corrupted by an email
system.

- Is the file password protected? If so, you won't be able to open it in PPT
2000 and earlier

Did the suggestions on the "recover a corrupt pres" work for you?
