Problems opening Excel worksheet from Desktop

The only way we can open an Excel workbook is by doing it
from the File, Open area of Microsoft Excel. If we save
it to the Desktop, and try to open it, it only opens the
Excel window, but not the actual workbook.

Try Tools / Options / General Tab / If 'Ignore Other Applications' is checked,
then uncheck it.
