I have had problems installing XP Pro using a DVD drive - the installation
seems to hang up about halfway through. Is there a known issue using a DVD
drive to boot from the XP CD-ROM? If so, what workarounds can I use (I don't
have a CD only drive)? Thanks.

DVD works for me, Ham. Are you installing after formatting your HDD or
upgrading? Is your DVD relatively modern? I did have an older one that
was a bit "choosy" what it wanted to do.:-) You could check out the DVD
maufacturer's site for "bugs".

DVD is brand new LG 4163 installed in new system I am building, so the DVD
modern and it is a clean XP installation. The install got through the stage
of formatting a C: partition on my HDD, but froze while copying the windows
files.

I also have a LG 4163b DVD drive. I do not have any problems. You might want
to check your XP CD on a different PC (friends) to see if the CD might be bad.
