Problems in typing some characters in PowerPoint 2003

I have installed Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 in my computer.
All programs are working well, but PowerPoint. When I try to type a text,
PowerPoint becomes a nonresponsive program. How can I fiz this problem? I
have already tried the updates from Microsoft and even to reinstall Office,
so I don´t know what to do anymore...

Make sure you have a printer driver installed on the local computer (ie, NOT a
network printer) and set as the default printer driver.
