I have a backed-up archive file (*.pst format) that I need to import again.
However when I go through the whole "file->import etc." process it comes up
with an error message stating that the file is "not an personal folders
file".
I'm using Outlook 2003 on a WinXP Pro system.
Has anyone got any ideas on how to solve this?

Regards,. Evert.

Don't import PSTs.

Make sure the file is not read-only. Use File>Open>Outlook Data File to
open it. If that doesn't work, you corrupted your PST in the "backup" or
copy process and it's unrecoverable.

If the file is corrupted is there any way I could try to recover the
contents?

You can try to run the Inbox Repair Tool against the corrupted PST file.
