Problems editing MS Word 2007

I can't seem to edit or delete any of my created document. If I put cursor
before a word and press delete all that happens is the cursor moves forward
one position across text for every "delete" depress, and as it progress
forward it changes text RED as well as scores THROUGH text with a single red
line. If I then place cursor AFTER text and try deleting backwards - it DOES
progress backwards but instead of deleting text it changes text as for the
former explanation exactly. If I try to enter NEW text in a created 'box'
field the text is produced but in RED and UNDERLINED. I feel I must have
done something unusual when originally "Saving" the document to file. Can
anyone unlock the mystery for me??

You probably have track changes activated, try accepting all changes.
You can find the necessary on the review toolbar in Word 2003 or the
review tab in Word 2007.

On the Review tab, click the Track Changes button (in the Tracking group) to
turn it OFF. Then click on the Accept button and choose Accept All Changes
in Document.

You probably accidentally typed Ctrl-Shift-E, thus turning on Track
Changes. (The other two ways of doing it would be hard to do
accidentally.)
