I have been trying to reinstall XP on my system for the
last 4 days, adn keep getting the same problem: Setup
seams to start correctly, it loads all the drivers but
when it reaches the line on a blue screen SETUP is
Staring, it just stops there and wont continue. There is
bo BSDO or Stop code that I could research, the system
just freezes. I have replaced the HD, run ful HW
diagnostics on teh system and it works fine, the fact is
that I can install Win98 wihtout a problem but XP wont
install. Actually I even try Win2000Pro and get the same
problem. The worse is that I have contacted actual MS
Support and they could not tell me how to resolved the
issue. I am a HW Comp Eng so I do isntalls regurlay and
this is the first time that I encounter this problem. I am
at a lost since the MSKB doesn't have any info of problems
like this. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I have been having the same problem. I found that if your
disk is bigger than 137 gig that the xp install will not
no what to do with it. you must use a partitioning program
to partition the drive at no bigger than 137 gig then
install xp. it will then work. after xp is installed it
will see a max of 8 terrabytes of disk space. i did this
and it worked for me. all so if you have the drives in a
raid configuration you need to leave the default of 64k in
the setup when setting the boot active. hope this helps.

Thanks for the advised unfortunatelly, this is not the
case. The HD is only 40GB, I did used a partition program,
included with the drive. I create an 8GB primary NTFS
partition and left the reft and an empty space on the
first try and as an extended part. I also remove the 2d
13G drive and still nogo. So I am at a lost here.

Any ideas would be great thanks again

Hello
XP sometimes will not install after using a 3rd party formatting tool (max
blaster is one that I had found) XP comes with all the tools to partition
and format your harddrive I would recommend trying that.

Thanks for the reply, unfortunatelly it did not help,
since the HD is only 40G partition into an 8 and 32 G each
partitions. The worse is that I have submitted a questions
to the Sysbrd Manufacturer for possible compatibility
issues with teh chipset and I have not received any reply
back. I am getting kind of desperate since I have multiple
programs that I have to used that only run on 2000 or XP,
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. By teh way MS Tech
SPrt could not answer my questions either
