Hey

When I create a temporary directory and create/copy some files in it
(typical .jpg's or .mps's) and shows/listen to them through Windows
picture/fax viewer or Windows mediaplayer and at last moves all files to
there right places it is not always possible for me to delete the temporary
directory in spite of that the directory is empty. Windows calms that the
directory or some files in the directory is in use by some program.

There is no files in the directory (hidden or system).

As far as I can see no programs is running, that could use the directory.

Booting the computer or restarting explore solves the problem.

Are there any one, who has any idea to what my problem is?

same to me to but sometimes only. it seem like winxp refresh is to slow. it
actually think that we still open that file. that's why it said that it
still be using by some program. sometimes i must wait till 5 minutes later
then i can delete the file's or folder that i open before.

I've ound that rebooting closes the files in question and you can the delete
tham the normal way.

Hi Kelly,

Thanks for the link to the program Process Explorer.

I found out, that Explorer.exe had more handles open to the directories I
couldn't delete.
Through Process Explorer I closed those handles and then it was possible to
delete the directories.

Two questions:
1: When I closed the handles, I got a warning, that the program could crash.
It didn't. Is there a really danger using Process Explorer to close these
handles?
2: Why doesn't Explorer close these handles it self?
