After upgrading my cpu from p3-800mhz to amd xp 2400+,
windows couldn't load because of a hardware change.
Reading suggestions, I did a repair installation. After
this, during bootup, I see the winxp logo screen, and
then it goes to a black screen forever. I tried doing
safe mode and i got stuck at agp440.sys. Reading other
suggestions, I disabled this service using recovery
console. But this didn't help. I still get black screen
after winxp logo screen, and booting safe mode no longer
displays the drivers it is loading. Any help is
appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hi

Try download and update the mobo BIOS and chipset drivers from the mobo manufacturer's website
After updated the mobo BIOS and chipset drivers, boot into BIOS and load the default settings
Pls post back if you still encounter problems
