I recently had to do a system restore-Windows XP, now I don't have Word,
can't fax and videos look terrible. I already downloaded things like
Macromedia Shockwave and Flash Player(4,095.00MB!!), still poor quality. I
don't have the CDs that came with the computer and I would hate to have to
buy them, can I get these programs from somewhere other than downloads.com
for free? I also lost all my pictures (over 400), is there a way to recover
them or are they really gone forever?

Replacement CDs should be available from the computer
manufacturer. File them carefully and/or make backups of
your system once you have it back to normal.

Question [sorry to but in]: But the master CD's are the back ups aren't
they? This is what I am using them for?

[now to but out]

I got a Compaq Recovery Console from manufacturer, that didn't help, so they
sent me a 3 CD set called QuickRestore, that brought me back to new status
but lost all my pics and some programs. Actually, I figured out how to get
Word back from D: drive after my first post, but can't find the program that
allowed me to fax, perhaps it was not Microsoft? How do I back up my system?
