Despite the problems I read others having I decided to upgrade the 27
security upgrades for my XP Home SP1 pre-installed system. At the end of the
upgrades (38.5 MB download) the system rebooted and started up fine.
But, at least one problem has surfaced (and there may be others to come...):
When I go to "help and support" and search for "schedule" and select
"Schedule a New Task", the appropriate info opens on the right side.
However when I then click on the link "Open scheduled tasks", instead of
opening the folder for scheduled tasks (as it used to do just before the
upgrades), it now just creates another icon for "Notes" next to the Notes
subheading and does this repeatedly no matter how many time I retry.
The schedule new tasks folder does exist. I found it, but obviously
something is now wrong with the "Help and Search" or its links.
What do I do now! I am afraid what else I might find.
I did take the precaution of creating a restore point before downloading all
the updates and I also noticed that the upgrades did too, but I have no way
of knowing which is at fault. Also it took 6 hours to download all the
upgrades on my dialup connection and I am not anxious to do that again.
