After going through Recovery Console my system is not responding. I can get
into windows but nothing works. Norton 2006 is running through something but
goes on for ever. I can not get into control panel to delete Norton.

Help please?

More information is needed. Can you boot to Safe Mode?

Steve N.

Yes. Currently in Safe Mode with Networking. Doing an online Norton virus
scan. Delaying as it is Downloading ActiveX Controls.

What did you do in Recovery Console?

Can you remove Norton in Safe Mode?

Steve N.

In Recovery Console I did a repair of windows (not at full reinstall).
Nothing changed. I've tried to uninstall Norton in every mode. Control
Panel does not work in normal mode at all. Can not open My Computer either.
Tried an online Norton scan. Nothing happens, system remains idle. Tried a
regedit in Command Prompt and went through the Permissions of
HKEY_..._ROOT/USER/MACHINE etc etc. I disabled NAV and the same problems
occur. Everything is extremely slow in Windows.

Norton is almost as hard to remove as AOL (which requires
burning the system and scattering the ashes). Even using the
Symantec "special utilities" from their website, you will find
little "presents" scattered around your system.

Any suggestions as to what I should do then?
