Since installing SP3 for Office XP I have been getting messages in Outlook
that a programme is trying to access my contacts, do I want to allow this.
When I click on NO the message reappears. This contionues until Outlook
freezes.
I have switched off my Norton antispam and updated from the Norton website
but this makes no difference.
I have to shut down with the task manager and then when I restart I get
nmessages that my data files were not closed properly and they have to be
checked for errors.
Does anyone know how this can be fixed as it makes my Outlook unusable.

Brian,
This hasn't worked, I'm afraid.
The link you gave looks OK, although it doesn't seem to relate to the
problem I have. What is "the security prompt"?....
There is a list of software which has known problems. I have Norton Internet
Security and Scansoft PDF Converter from the list.
I've done a Norton live update and Scansoft can't help.
I've tried going back to a prior restore point and none of thgem succeed.
Any more ideas please?

Remove them one at a time and see if that stops the prompting. If it does,
you know which one is causing it and can complain to the vendor.

I daren't remove Norton, though I have checked I've got the latest updates.
I've removed my Scansoft products but that hasn't worked.
From following the link you gave me, I have found "Advanced Security for
Outlook" from MAPI labs.
I propose to install that and see if it helps me at least identify from
where the alert is coming.
I'll let you know how it goes, but I won't do it just yet. If you think it
might not be the appropriate action to take then I'd be glad of your comments!
Thanks,
Frosty Cup.
