Problem with Windows XP Fax Preview -Gibberish instead of Document

I have tried to fax documents from Word 2000, Microsoft
Picture It, and Visioneer Paperport, but when I try to
preview the document in the fax console, the cover page
looks fine but the document I am trying to fax appears in
the preview screen as page upon page of gibberish and
random pages of image files stored on my computer.

Any idea what could be causing this? This problem appears
to be independent of the program or file type I try to
fax. And my modem appears to be okay because it appears
I can fax the cover page, just not the document I am
trying to fax.

I've had Windows XP for a couple of years now. However,
I had never tried faxing before.

Did it ever work?
Have you looked at the Windows update site to see if the update that fixes
this applies to you?

Just tried faxing for the first time, so I don't know if
it ever worked.

I checked the Windows update site and there were no
updates that I hadn't already downloaded that appeared to
relate to faxing problems.

So you're saying you've already installed Q322011?
I know of no other solutions for this problem.

I appear to have installed Q322011, but the problem that
Q322011 fixes doesn't appear to be my problem. I can see
fax preview, it's just that a bunch of "gibberish" pages
appear. The gibberish pages aren't even like the normal
preview page and seem to contain mashed together info and
pieces of html from various files on my hard drive.

It turns out that at the end of about 30 or so of the
gibberish pages, the document I actually want to send
appears the way it is supposed to (I finally decided to
try deleting all of the gibberish pages).

It looks like I may have solved the problem. Once I
deleted all of the gibberish pages, they appear to not
have come back.

Thanks for your help.
