problem with Windows Vista Basic

when i turn my computer to windows vista basic theme i see the mouse arrow

keep flickering when i move it

and i hav the lastest update for my graphic card so why this happen .

I am trying to network my vista laptop with my win 98 computer. IP
addresses are correct as well as gateway. I can ping and see the computers
on both machines. I am using a five port hub, which is hooked up properly.
Every time I try and open the home office on win 98 machine I am prompted to
get a password. I was told I have an authentication problem that win 98 is
not compatible with vista until they get a service pack to fix the problem.
I tried putting in the same login and passwords in both machines and this
didn't work. Is there anything I can do in the vista machine to correct the
problem? If not, is a service pack coming out soon?
