Hello, I'm sure hoping you folks can help me.
My Windows XP SP1 Install (OEM Dell running on a P4 512mb Dell Dimension
8300) has seemingly developed a very annoying quirk:
Whenever I right click on a folder, especially in the FOLDER pane, Explorer
seems to "freeze" with the hourglass symbol, for at least 3-5 minutes.
What's odd is while the first instance of Explorer is 'frozen', I can open
other instances and rightclick normally.
I've tried just about everything I know to fix this behavior.
a) I thoroughly scanned my system for malware of all sorts. Clean
b) I uninstalled my Nvidia FX5200ultra drivers, same problem.
c) I ran several registry "cleaners", same problem.
d) I tried using a third party Explorer shell, but it locks up in the same
manner (and eventually unlocks!)
I'm at a complete loss. I've done SFC /purgecache & SFC /scannow , I've
chkdsk'd all drives, and will happily provide a screen shot. I really don't
want to abandon a completely working installation of Windows XP SP1 just
because of this bug.
PLEASE HELP!! Feel free to email - mailto: streetspirit at optonline.net
Regards,
David Leighman
