I recently had to reinstall XP from a pre SP2 CD. However I have
noticed that some of the root certs are out of date, ie expired in 200
how do I update these

Load the "Root Certificates Update" package from Windows Update. There will
still be expired certificates afterwards and that's fine - leave them where
they are. Some of them have been expired for a reason.

Thanks, did that I found the problem in the end, my disk was dirty and
the file was skipped, the wife clicked ok :(
