Problem with ps/2 port

Both my keyboard and mouse are plugged into a ps/2 port, but when I move my
mouse the curser on the screen doesn't move. I have an optical mouse so
everything seems to be fine with the mouse. When I look at the mouse
properties under hardware should I see anything there? When I look at my
keyborard properties under hardware there is information listed. Also when
I look under device manager I can not find anything that says ps/2 port,
should there be anything listed under the device manage for the ps/2 port?

PS/2 ports are not listed. You will see a Keyboard and a Mouse entry. In
Mouse, you should have the mouse listed.

Is device manager showing an installed mouse?.. if it is, then your mouse is
not working.. if it isn't, there is a very good chance that your mouse is
not working.. try installing a mouse driver.. if it installs ok, but your
mouse pointer still will not move, then your mouse is not working.. if you
have access to another mouse, you might want to try it out to determine if
it is a driver problem.. mouse life expectancy is not too long..

PS/2 ports show up as whatever is connected to them.. in your case, a
keyboard and mouse.. possibly an ex-mouse

What should I do if I don't see a mouse entry? In all the places I've looked
I didn't see anything for a mouse entry.

I see only a keyboard enty, no mouse entry. I've looked and re-looked and I
see no mouse entry at all. What should I do?

How do I install the mouse driver? The device manager doesn't show an
installed mouse at all. The mouse I have is only 6 months old.

:
What brand and model is the mouse?
(you need to visit the mouse manufacturers page, and look
for the mouse entry)

This has nothing to do with looking or not looking at it. I should
never have had to download it in the first place. For users on dialup
(or gasp, those that actually have to pay per minute - and they are
still out there). this becomes a large issue. This is a text group
and they don't expect to have to waste their money/time on getting
pictures.
