Problem with opening documents attached to email.

Just bought new machine with Windows Vista, emailed some CVs but when I try
to open, it's gobbledegook. Original docs were done on MSWord, Windows ME.
Can anyone help? I'm not very good with thos sort of thing.

Try to clear the following points.
You e-mailed some CV's from where to where.
Are you having problems opening the attachments in a non-Vista machine?
Are you receiving those attachments on your Vista machine?
What happens if you carry those files on a USB drive and try to open them
directly in the "problem" machine?
What happens if you detach those files in the offending machine and place
them on a USB drive and try to open them on a good machine?

Sent my husband email with CV attachment from my email on my old Packard Bell
with Windows ME. I now have Windows Vista which is where I have tried to open
the attachments. (Haven't yet used USB drive. I am a novice at this.)
 
Which version of Office did "WORD" come from?
