Hi all,

I am using WinXP Pro with WinXP Office. I have a problem
with MS Outlook and Outlook Express 6.0. MS Outlook is
set as the default e-mail client. I use a dial-up
connection. Sometimes when I try to send/receive, I get
an error message saying something about POP3 server not
responding. I was told by my ISP to delete the account
and set up the account again. This temporarily fixes the
problem, but it rears its ugly head every now and then.
If I get any Microsoft updates the problem happens
afterwards every time, but it has happened a few other
times also, which I am unable to link to any specific
thing that i have done.

My friend with an identical computer has been having the
same problem also - he also uses the same ISP. He also
has a couple of other accounts with different ISP's, but
I am not sure if he has the problem with those.

I haven't always had this problem. It only started about
a month ago.

Any advice would be much appreciated,

Andrew Warren.

Hi Andrew

I would get back to your ISP and make sure that they haven't got any problems with their email server. The POP3 server is used for incoming mail.

Good idea Will, but I have heard too many stories of
ISP's who won't take any responsibility for problems, so
first I will speak to my friend who is having the same
problem, and find out if he has had this problem with his
other providers. Then I will put on my war face and go
for some ISP blood !! (I will be a tad embaressed if I
find that its something silly I have done to
the'puter !!!)
Cheers,
Andrew Warren

Hi PA Bear. Next time I get the error, (Hopefully there
won't be a next time!!!), I will be sure to note it, so I
can post it.

Thanks, and best regards,
