problem with mpegs in powerpoint 2003

I have a powerpoint presentation that was created using
powerpoint 2002. I now have a new laptop that came with
powerpoint 2003 (11.5529.5606) and my presentation is not
working right. I have inserted mpegs and .avi files in my
presentation. The avi's run fine, but my mpegs will not
run at all. I tried removing them and reinserting them,
but powerpoint still will not run them. They will play if
I open them ouside of powerpoint.

Any ideas? I have to give this presentation again next
week and need to get it fixed.
