Hello, I got a problem with embedded mpeg1 Vids in PPT
2000 (XP home with SP2)
Trying to embed these vids (mpeg1, according to VCD
standard) in ppt I receive a unspecified mistake warning.
Trying to load a presentation which encloses embedded vids
(and which runs without problems on other systems), ppt
crashes.
I learned already that ppt uses the windows mci system to
play videos. The vids are running without problems under
windows media player, but they don´t run with the mci
player (mplayer32). I checked the mci registry settings
(mci extensions and mci32), but they are o.k.
Any idea how I could solve the problem? many thanks in
advance and greetings, Ralf

My guess is they do NOT follow the red book standard for an Mpeg-1.

You might try the troubleshooting steps at
http://www.echosvoice.com/tshoot_video2.htm

But if the files don't play in MCI Media Player, they won't play in PPT.

Thanks a lot for your advice (and also for that of Austin
Myers)

The Problem was Main Concept Decoder, which came with
another software tool. After deinstalling this tool, the
mpegs worked again well with powerpoint.

Many greetings, Ralf

Glad to hear what worked for you, Ralf. Thanks for reporting back.
