Hi Everyone,

Since I've started working with Windows Mail, I noticed that when friends
send me pictures, they get truncated or distorted sometimes. It doesn't
happen all the time...

When I ask them to send the same photos to my yahoo address, it works just
fine.

Is there some kind of limit size on my mailbox in Windows Mail? Can I make
an adjustment setting change somewhere?

thank you for your help,
Paula

Windows Mail has no size limit, but your ISP may well have one.

Which antivirus are you using? McAfee and Norton antivirus often
cause problems with Windows Mail.

Hi Gary,

Thank you for your reply! I have Spy Sweeper and Trend Micro Antivirus.

I had thought about Spy Sweeper so I disabled the shield that deals with
email attachments but it didn't help. I haven't touched the Trend software.

It's funny because when I used an old Netscape mail program, I never had an
problems...

so confused,
Paula

A recent version of the Trend antivirus software (details unknown) also
causes various problems in Windows Mail, and has to to uninstalled
(not just disabled) to stop it from causing problems.

You may want to use a replacement antivirus program, such as avast!,
preferably doing a custom install to tell it to leave out the part that
scans email:

http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

Netscape may have stored the mail differently, so the email scanning
could not find it and cause problems with it.

Hi Robert,

Thank you so much for the tip! It worked!

I un-installed the Trend Anti-Virus software and installed Avast instead.
Now none of the image attachments received through Windows Mail are distorted.

heartfelt thanks,
Paula

Thanks for that report. I will have to add Trend AV to my 'bad boy' list.
