Problem with https pages

I Have a friend that have a problem with Internet Explorer, MSN Explorer &
MSN Messenger. I think they have the same problem. When I try to connect to
an https pages it told me unable to show the page. In MSN explorer and
messenger he could not connect to the server. I think he have a problem
with SSL. It seem that everything that use Internet Explorer SSL does not
work. I don't remember which version he have but I think it is v5.5. He
have windows XP install. What could be the problem?

MSN messenger must be updateds for one.
