Hi Everybody,

I have been facing a terrible problem with my Windows
XP Pro.
Sometimes, after logginf on my computer I see no icons
and no status bar on my desktop.
Therefore I cannot run any application anymore.
I unsuccessfully tried to restart the computer in safe
mode, recover it from the last known good, etc
The only kind of control that I have is by the MS-DOS
prompt.
However, I don't know how to "rebuild or restore the
registry".
My guess is that there is the problem.
The only way to put my computer up and running again is
reinstalling the O.S.!
Since it has been happening very often, I would like to
hear from you guys your opinion because it is driving nuts!
Thanks in advance.

What you didn't tell us is if it does this for all users or just one (or if
you even have more than one user)?

It sounds like a bad user profile.

Hi Shenan,

As a matter of fact, this computer is used only for me.
Therefore, there is just one user profile.
You gave me a good idea.
I might create a backup user.
Next time the problem happens, I could try to log on
using this guy.
Any outher thoughts?

Thank you,

Amintas
