Last night, my computer started running really slowly.
When I looked at the task manager to see what was running,
a process called cycle.exe is utilizing nearly 100% of the
cpu all the time. When I boot in safe mode, the system
runs at the normal speed. I can't seem to find any
information on this problem anywhere.

Norton does not find it, check disk does not find the
problem. Running out of ideas...any help would be
appreciated...thanks.

Hi Mina,

Search the system for Cycle.exe and find what application owns it. Also
run Regedit.
1. In Regedit Click on My Computer (to highlight it)
2. Choose Edit (From the menu bar) and choose Find.
3. Search for Cycle.exe and let us know where you find entries for the
file.

Could be a spyware of freeware issue. I would suggest the
following. Download and install SpyBot - Search and
Destroy. Update SpyBot with the most current detections
and run the program. I would also recommend activating
the "Immunization" tool in SpyBot. Here is the URL for
the download. Plus check the "Permanently running bad
blocker for Internet Explorer".

Hope this helps...make sure to run it a few times for best
results. Then run every week or two there after.

Hi Ken,

I found the following entries in regedit.

Default (no values)
AppDirectory (c:\winnt\inf\wins\server\system\)
Application (c:\winnt\inf\wins\server\system\cycle.exe)

I was going to delete the application at least. What do you think?

Thanks for the help. Mina
