Ravi

I have a strange problem with Outlook 2000.
When I set the outgoing server to 127.0.0.3 Outlook does not
send mail properly. It goes to some stage and the mail is
not sent.

I can however send mail using OE.

I have tried all settings in the network tab in Outlook.
None seem to work.

Any solutions?

TIA.

Localhost is usually 127.0.0.1. When you ping localhost, what IP address is
returned? This is defined in your hosts file.

Regardless, what is your e-mail server? If you're using an Internet mail
account, use the ISP's SMTP server. If it gets changed back to localhost,
this is your antivirus software's doing....check with the mfr. to see if
they have an updated version.

Thanks but dont worry about all that. I am running a local
smtp server for sending mail. (which binds to ip 127.0.0.1)

Even when I set the outgoing smtp server to 127.0.0.1 it
dosent work (Only from Outlook) all other email clients are
able to connect and succefully send mail, OE The Bat!
Pegauss mail Eudora Agent Incredimail etc.
(I have all of them!)

If you have a soln for this please let me know.

TIA.

Pinging mycomp [127.0.0.1] with 32 bytes of data:

But I prefer to use my own smtp server.
I donot use an av software proxy for scanning mail.

Any other possible soln?

If your mail server is local (your PC), and is listening at localhost, it
should work. This isn't really an Outlook issue so much as a config issue on
your mail server....if you telnet on port 25 to localhost, what banner do
you get?
