Problem with brackets

I've got a problem with MS Excel and a bracket in the filename. Whenever I
make a new worksheet, the name is changed into .xls]<somthing> and I get a
message that there is an illegal character in the name. I didn't type it! And
to complete the problem: I cannot change the name of the worksheet. All
references are broken. What to do? It seems to me that this is a bug. Where
can I report it?

Rename the workbook's filename -- remove the bracket.

And then you can rename the worksheet the way you like.

No way! The file is coupled by an external program, and the filename is the
reference used by that program. Renaming it would make the file unreachable.

I had the same issue show up on a users worksheet they needed help on. It
only happened when I renamed the tab within the worksheet, and did not give
me the error until I tried to take it out. I just kept it the same and did
not try to change it, and it works fine.
