Hi erveryone,

i got a little problem with Nero under XPe.

If I install Ahead NERO V5.5 (or earlier Versions)on my Win XPe device
there are no problems during installation process.
Installation finishes normaly.

BUT if I restart the mashine, during Win XPe boot sequence the following
error message occures:
"The jprocdedure entry_point_resetstkoflw could not be located in the
dynamic link library MSVCRT.DLL"

Every restart ends in a blue screen before the logon screen appears.

With WinOnCD 5.0 I had no problem at all!!!

Made anyone an experience like this???
Does anyone know a solution for this problem???
Any idea whats the reason for my problem with Nero??

Thanx for any help
Matthias

Matthias,

Typically this type of error means that the version of MSVCRT.DLL is old.
That is, a more recent version has an exposed method named "resetstkoflw"
and the one currently on your system does not. The error is caused when
part of the OS that is compiled against the new MSVCRT.LIB library tries to
load and resolve a call into the DLL.

Nero is probably doing bad things with it's install and over-writing the
MSVCRT.DLL that is in the system folder. You can search for "dll hell" on
microsoft or google for an explanation and of how MS has worked to fix the
problem.

In any event, I thought XP was supposed to not allow overwriting of system
files unless they were signed. Perhaps the rule is different for XPe or
there is a component you must install in your XPe image that handles system
file management or perhaps Nero is just doing something dastardly behind the
scenes to ensure the version of MSVCRT.DLL it ships gets installed.

A quick test might be to get a copy of MSVCRT.DLL from an XP box and copy it
onto the XPe box then reboot. Another way would be to reinstall your XPe
image, copy MSVCRT.DLL to MSVCRT.DLL.XPE, install Nero, then compare
MSVCRT.DLL to MSVCRD.DLL.XPE. They will probably be different.

Nick.
