problem visiting secure sites and win update

In windows XP with sp1a i can't visit win update. Scannind stops at 0% and
my internet connection fails. The same happens when i visit secure
sites(https). what is the problem?
 
Hi

Have a look at the Security settings in Internet Explorer - Tools>Internet
Options>Security. Try the Default Level for 'Internet'.

Hello. The settings are on the default level. The problem occured when i
installed
sp1a. It's not a problem of internet explorer, i suppose. The same thing
happens when i visit secure sites with other browsers.
