I'm trying to network an XP home desktop and a 98SE
laptop. On the laptop, when I run netsetup, I get a
message on the reboot "an error occured loading
windows\system\upnp.dll. The file may not have been
installed or it has been corrupted." After hitting enter
the next message is "windows\system\hnetwiz.dll, one of
the library files needed to run this application cannot
be found.

I tried running netsetup from both the XP install CD and
created a floppy disk and got the same results. I'm not
able to see across the network, only the local computer.

Any suggestions.

Thank you,

Lou

No need to repair/reinstall. Just set up the network manually. The wizard
is not necessary.

Hello Eric,

Thank you for the suggestion, unfortunately it didn't
help. I am able to connect from XP machine to 98SE, even
though SE machine doesn't appear in "My workgroups". From
SE to XP I cannot connect to anything.

Any other ideas??

Thanks,

Lou

Did you try not using the wizard? Like I commented, it is not necessary.
I've seen the wizard mess up many more networks that I has setup.

I tried to set up the XP computer similar to how I would
do a 98SE computer. Is that what you mean by setting it up
manually? I've tried that & it still doesn't work. Is
there somewhere where I can find documentation on how to
do a manual setup on a XP computer?

Thank you
