problem using internet explorer of windows xp

please help me.i'm facing problem using the ie of my
windows xp professional.the problem is that i cannot see
the progress bar of my explorer.help needed please assist.

Under hte view menu is there a check mark next to "Status Bar"?
If not click on status bar to place a check next to it.
