Problem Switching Between Worksheets

Hello,

I am using MS Office 2000 on a pc running Windows 2000. I have just
recently encountered a problem when switching between sheets in a workbook.
When I click to select a different worksheet, a rectangular icon, (kind of
like a sheet of paper), with a "+" sign by it, appears in place of my mouse
pointer. Then, in the best case scenario, I can right click anywhere on
screen and get rid of it. It won't have switched to the different sheet
however. In the worst case...the machine locks up and nothing short of
pulling the plug will unlock it. (Ctrl-Alt-Del does nothing.) I am able
use keyboard commands, (Ctrl-Page Up/Down), to switch between sheets, but
it's not all that convenient, and sometimes I forget and end up pulling the
plug. I tried the repair function on Excel with no luck. Anyone have any
suggestions?
Thanks...Jeff

If you wanted to copy a worksheet by using the mouse, you could ctrl-click and
drag the worksheet tab to its new location.

When you do this, you'll see that same icon.

It sounds to me like your mouse/ctrl-key is stuck. Can you gently bang on the
keyboard or mouse to see if it gets released?

Thank you for your reply...it seems the problem was with the mouse. Banging
the mouse didn't seem to help, but replacing it with a different one did.
Thanks again.
