Hi,

I live in DVD region 1. I bought a DVD from region 2
(didn't know there was different regions, but I sure do
now!). Anyway, I went to play this "region 2" DVD and it
told me that I only can change the region setting a few
times and then I'm out of luck. Is this a WinXP driver
problem or possibly the hardware (e.g., EEPROM)? Thanks
for any help.

Most likely a hardware thing. Given that the Windoze properties page for
the DVD warns that when you make your last allowable change, you won't be
able to do anything about it even if you move the drive to a different PC or
reinstall Windoze, it looks like it's out of MS's hands.

If you search, there may be hacks to disable the region setting, or reset
the counter for your drive - do so at your own risk.
