hi, i recently set up a wireless network and would like to be able to print
from the other computer. when i try to set the printer to be shared, and give
it a share name, i get an error saying Printer settings could not be saved.
Operation could not be completed. I dont know why this happens, i have gotten
printer sharing to work on other computers in the same way just fine. I am
running XP home on the computer connected to the printer and using a westell
router/modem. the other computer has 98 SE.

Make sure that File and Printing Sharing (Network Connections/Lan
Connection/Properties) is installed on the XP machine. Also, make sure that
the server service (services.msc) is running.

ok thanks, that let me share it, but i still cant view the workgroup, i think
the router has a certain workgroup and i cant change it or find out what it
is.

Actually the router doesn't care about workgroup names.

To double check each computer's workgroup names go to System Properties of
each computer and click on the Computer Name tab.
If ytou have to change any of the computer's workgroup names click on
"Change." Make sure the workgroup name is identical for all to appear in
the same workgroup.

Even if the workgroup name is different you should be able to browse to
them. When you go to Network Places, in the sidebar under "Other Places"
you should see "Microsoft Windows Network" click that and you may see the
workgroups if there are others.

Good luck.
