Hi I hope someone can help with this. I have two computers using winXP home
connected to a Netgear router. I have sharing of the drives and printers
enabled and working fine. I purchased a new PC yesterday a 64bit Athlon XP
with SP2 installed. Once I had connected all devices and turned on I went to
"Set up a home or small office network", I followed the steps as I normally
would have done however this time the wizard did not give me the option to
choose what method I want to connect (1394 or Ethernet". Once I complete the
setup the final window shows"

"Unknown internet connection sharing"

I repete the steps on the other PC and everything is ok. I then restart
both PC and try to browse the network drives. When I try to add a network
place I can see the other PC but none of the shared drives. On PC2 I can see
PC1 and access the shared resources.

Im flustered can anyone help.
1. Why is windows trying to use Internet connection sharing when I have a
router (all pcs connected via RJ45 to router). How do I disable ICS.

2. Why cant I view the shared drives on the other PC? (workgroup name is the
same, and I can go one way but not the other).

Please please help.

Many thanks

It isn't trying to use ICS. The Wizard detected your Netgear router
(which is an Internet connection sharing device), but couldn't
determine the router's name, so it called it "Unknown". Tell it to
use the connection that it found.

Make sure that firewall isn't blocking access to one of them.
Please please help.

Many thanks
