Problem resending messages from outbox- doesn't work

Here's my problem (Outlook):

After I compose a message and click "send", my messages go to the Outbox for
queueing until I hit the Send/Receive button, and then a successful send
moves them to the Sent items folder. But if I access any of these outbox
messages prior to sending, OR if there is a problem with the send (i.e., I
forgot to change the outgoing server when using someone else's network), then
these messages stay in the outbox with the "open letter" icon. I haven't
been able to figure any way to reconfigure these messages to be ready for
sending again, which is really inconvenient and frustrating. (in these
messages, if I click the "send" button, it does nothing.) Then I'm forced to
just start a new message, which is a hassle.

This doesn't seem right. Does anyone have ideas? I'm new to Outlook, have
been using Eudora on a Mac the last few years, and just switched to a new PC
recently (Office 2003, Windows XP). I wanted to use Outlook to eventually
integrate my e-mail/contacts with a PDA, but I'm just not enjoying this
program!

Thanks!

Hitting 'send' again should indeed put the message in an "I'm ready to go!"
state - that's how it's supposed to work. When you do this, does the message
window even close - and does it show up in italics in the outbox, indicating
that Outlook knows it's ready to go out at
the next send/receive?

In my case, after hitting "send" again, the message window closes but the
message never shows up in italics. It stays as an opened message.

But thanks for the slipstick link- I checked their suggestion (switch
folders before hitting send the second time) and this worked. I'll follow
that site's suggestions for fixing the add-ins which are causing my problem.

Thanks again- I really appreciate your help!

You're most welcome. Good luck.

I've figured this bug - & it is a bug - out. Drag the email from the Outbox
to the Draft box. Send it from the Draft box & hit send/receive. Don't open
the outbox before you hit send/receive or the cycle will start over again.
