Hi!

I got a problem repairing an XP Home installation.
When starting my Laptop it says that the file
\windows\system32\config\system is missing or corrupted
and suggests that start windows setup and choose
the "repair" option. After doing that setup lets
me choose a windows directory. I type in the the
number and get command prompt.
How am I to fix the problem from there? Where do
I get a "fresh" copy of the above mentioned file?
After all, what could have caused the error?

Thanks in advance

regards
Kai

I choose "repair" in the setup main menu and
setup wants me to choose an installation
directory. I can only type in a single
character: the number of the windows installation
in the list. Pressing f2 doesn't have any effect.
After I got the prompt, pressing f2 doesn't do
anything from here either.
