Problem remembering passord in OE

I'm having a problem receiving e-mail...

Whenever I hit "send and receive" I get a box that pops up that requests my
password and says the following.....

"Please enter your user name and password for the following server."

My password is already filled in, but the system refuses to remember my
password.

When I go to tools -> accounts -> and then my account, I notice a couple of
options:

"Log on using Secure Password Authentication"

and

"My server requires authentication"

I've tried both options and nothing has worked yet. Of course I have
"checked" the remember password box everywhere I can find it. The box stays
checked but the password is not remembered.

If it helps, I'm using Verizon DSL, and their help service was, to say the
least, "unhelpful"

Any suggestions?

First, make sure that "Protected Storage" service is running. Click Start /
Run / Services.msc
If it is already ON, try this:

Your Outlook Express Password Is Not Retained in Windows 2000 or XP

[Applies to Auto-Complete as well]
