I have Win95, IE55 and in some web pages, when I try to open a link inside
that web page, a transparent window called Microsoft Internet Explorer
appears and nothing happens. I have to close that window so that I can
continue working.
In the same link, I right click with the mouse, point to roperties, copy the
URL, copy the URL to the GO TO window and it opens it correctly.
I've uninstalled and installed IE55 but the problem persists. Also there are
no viruses.

Any Suggestions?

Thanks

Hi there,

See if this helps:

Open Windows Explorer and click on Tools | Folder Options | File Types, then
scroll down to URL:Hypertext Transfer Protocol. Click Advanced or Edit,
whatever the choice is there. You want to Edit the Open action for this file
type. The values should read as follows:

application:
"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" -nohome
(edit the path to your installation of IE as necessary)

DDE:
#1: "%1",,-1,0,,,,
#2: IExplore
#3: <blank>
#4: WWW_OpenURL

I was interested in this reply and tried to follow your suggestion.
In my (latest?) version of IE clicking on tools does not lead to 'Folder
Options'.
