On the "Manage Add-ons" screen, a number of the add-ons
have been disabled, and it won't let me change or update
them. It says "This add-on is managed by your
administrator", but I am logged as the administrator. I'm
sure it must have something to do with the security
level, but I can't figure what I need to do to maintain
security but get access to these add-ons. Thanks for any
help you can provide.

Read the post dated 10/2/04 titled XP SP2 Adobe and Active X Controls. I
hope this will help you. I can e-mail you the steps if you want me.

I could not find the post that you referenced. Could you
email the information to me?

I just had a chat session with someone at MicroSoft, and
she was unable to help me. This is affecting several
things in addition to pdf files, and I'm very anxious to
get it corrected. I very much appreciate any help you can
give me.

Well, I finally found the posting -- I don't know why I
missed it before. I followed the instructions for making
changes in regedit, and pdf files now work. If I have
more problems, I may consider creating a new account and
transferring my profile, but for now this works.

Thanks for your help!
