Problem installing old software

When trying to install an old progran from a CD, I get the message "This
installation has detected that a previous installation or un-unstallation
requires you to restart your computer" and the program will not install.

I have restarted the computer but it did not eliminate the message.

The program is old (1999) an is no longer supported. The installation wizard
is DemoShield.
 
Contact the manufacturer for Windows XP compatibility information.
Check with other users and determine what works for them.
