Problem inserting a table of content

Dear,

I created a document that includes some cross-references linked to the main
headings. Each time I want to add a table of contents at the beginning of the
text it is also added before all the "heading" cross-references.

Is there a way to solve this problem?

I'm not sure I understand the problem. Could you explain it again, please, with
a small example of what you mean by "before all the "heading cross-references"?
also, which version of Word do you have?

Normally, I'd expect a TOC to preceed all the text, except introductory
material, which is why I'm having trouble picturing your problem...
