Problem downloading messages in oe

I use oe to get messages from a pop3 server and have not had a problem until
a couple of days ago.

Here is the message: There was a problem logging onto your mail server.
Your Password was rejected. Account: 'mail.(server name removed).com',
Server: 'mail.(server name removed).com', Protocol: POP3, Server Response:
'-ERR unable to scan $HOME/Maildir', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server
Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92

I tried another app (thunderbird) to get the mail with the same results. Is
this problem on my end (local) or on the server end? Thanks for any help
that can be provided!!!

Ask in an Outlook Express newsgroup.
